St. Louis based Structures, Inc. has been awarded the bridge design contract for the Old Halls Ferry Road Bridge #107 replacement project. The St. Louis County Department of Transportation recognizes the need to replace the 84 year old, structurally deficient bridge. Structures, Inc. will partner with St. Louis County to develop the project as a welcomed investment for the community. The existing bridge currently services approximately 10,500 vehicles per day. The new span will have a curb-to-curb width of 44 feet and will include a sidewalk/bike path along one side.
According to John J. Gruendler, PE, SE and President of Structures, Inc. “We are very excited to work with the St. Louis County Department of Transportation on this project. Our experience with similar federally funded bridge projects will benefit all of the stakeholders involved, including the local residents and businesses impacted.”
For its part, Structures, Inc. will serve as the prime consultant and will provide project management, roadway and bridge design and structural engineering services. The design/engineering phases of the project are expected to take approximately one year to complete with construction expected to begin in 2017.
